Hi, I'm Critical Kunic!
I'm a D&D YouTuber with a lifelong love of game development and over 25 years of programming experience... But don’t let that fool you, I started young! I wrote my first code at age 8 back in 1997.
My game dev journey began with the obscure RPG Toolkit, then shifted to RPG Maker 2000, and eventually to BYOND, where I even helped closed beta test the original Space Station 13. That game inspired my biggest BYOND success: Hurricane, a generically named survival sim where players build a shelter to withstand a devastating storm. It was born from my habit of drifting off into space in SS13 and trying to build my own stations in the void. At its peak, Hurricane had 50 concurrent players.
In 2009, I moved to Unity with the release of Unity3D Indie. I thought it would be my forever engine, and for 17 years, it was. But the runtime fee fiasco in 2024 eventually led to me trying out Godot in June of 2025. And I've been there ever since!
Most of the games on my Itch.io page are from game jams. They may be small, but they each carry a bit of my heart. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I enjoyed making them.
